Custom tack drapes

Custom stall drapes create an attractive, professional presence that enhances your stable's image at a horse or trade show. They also provide privacy for your tack and grooming stalls, plus a sense of calm for your horses in their show site stabling. A suite of custom stall drapes with embroidered lettering or your logo in your stable's color scheme is an investment in branding.

A stall drape system is made up of panels that cover the exterior walls and doors of horse stalls, valances that add a polished look to the top of the panels, and a name banner. Valances can be finished in a straight line or feature a scalloped or shaped edge. A name banner is designed to hang over a doorway or aisle, backed with fabric so it looks attractive from both sides. Various lettering styles, such as Script or Roman, are available so you can choose one that blends well with your logo.

Dover Saddlery offers custom drapes that are durable, fade-resistant, and create a polished, professional look. The dye lots are consistent, so you can add to your tack drape collection over time without worrying about mismatched colors.

Decorating Tips from Our Stall Drape Expert

  • For a striking look, use three colors in your drape scheme: one for the panels, one for the trim, and one for the piping. More than 60 custom colors are available. Call 1-800-406-8204 to speak with Dover Saddlery's drape specialist and request the swatch book.
  • Coordinate your stall drapes with other custom stable items such as director's chairs, tack trunk covers that protect your trunks from scratches and dust, and stall guards that can be embroidered with your logo.

What Size Stall Drapes to Buy

Custom tack drape panels are 7'4" in length and come in widths including 6', 8', 10', and 12'. Door panels have zip closures. Equitex door panels are 5'5" wide and Triple Crown panels are 6' wide. The widths you need depend on the stall configurations at your show barns.

Most show barns have either 10' x 12' or 12' x 12' stalls. Frequent competitors should order 12' drape panels; these can be folded neatly when used on 10' stalls. If you attend only a few shows per year with 10' stalls, order 10' panels. Knowing stall door locations helps you choose panel widths. For example, a 12' stall front with a center doorway might use two 6' panels with tiebacks.

Valances are 14" deep and available in widths of 6', 8', 10', 12', and 17'. They can extend along the tops of stalls even where no drapes are mounted. Name banners are limited to 60' in length because of the weight of fabric, piping, and lettering.

Tip: Custom stall drapes take about 6–10 weeks for fabrication depending on lettering and logo embroidery. If you need a quicker solution, consider the ready-made Dover Drape Collection.

Installing Stall Drapes at the Showgrounds

Many people use heavy-duty staples to hang stall drapes on wooden stalls. Panels come with grommets for pull ties, useful in temporary stabling made of metal piping. Hook-and-loop fasteners along the tops of panels and valances make installation easy. Name banners include a hidden pocket to insert a wooden dowel for hanging over aisles or doorways.

Caring for Drapes and Valances

Shake dust from tack drapes after each show. Panels can be hosed off or machine-washed in commercial machines as directed by the manufacturer. Embroidered valances and name banners should be professionally dry cleaned.

For storage, fold stall drapes flat in a trunk. Roll valances and name banners to prevent creasing. Adding cedar blocks or sachets helps repel pests.
