Charlotte Jorst, Rider and Skin Cancer Prevention Activist: When Charlotte Jorst, entrepreneur, dressage rider and soon-to-be international competitor, was diagnosed with skin cancer and told to stay indoors, the seeds for Kastel Denmark were inevitably sewn. Charlotte had no access to an indoor arena and no desire to quit riding. She looked everywhere without success for sun-protective clothing which didn’t make her “look like a beekeeper.” When she found nothing to fit her needs, Charlotte focused her efforts on finding a fabric that was beautiful, comfortable, practical and protective. When she found it, as skin cancer survivor and prevention activist, she leveraged that fabric to grow the Kastel Denmark brand through the creation of gorgeous skin-safe activewear.

Kastel fabrics merge an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) of either 30 (for the lightest weight fabric) or 50 (for the medium-weight fabric). The material and the weave are designed to protect skin from UVA and UVB rays coming from sunlight, which in turn helps prevent premature aging, sun spots and even skin cancer. Integrated technology in the fabrics add four-way stretch to allow freedom of motion, breathability and cooling to provide moisture control and antibacterial engineering to help keep it odor-free. Because Kastel’s technical fabric comes in stunning prints and colors, women have no need to trade style for sun coverage.
