Beneath its refined and classic lines, this saddle offers a perfect dressage seat plus technologies to let you tailor it to suit your biomechanics. When you optimize the saddle for your natural position, your balance and stability are enhanced.
Key features:
- The dressage seat places you exceptionally close to your horse. It has an ultra-narrow and low twist, plus just enough support to help you to move in harmony and deliver aids cleanly.
- The movable overgirth redefines stability for dressage. It wraps the saddle flaps around your horse, giving you an unrestricted feel without any interfering movement of the saddle flap. It promotes stillness in your lower legs and upper body and helps make even the most demanding moves look effortless. You can locate the overgirth in the optimal position to lie centrally between your girth points/billets for perfect presentation.
- The Adjustable Ergonomic Stirrup Bar lets you customize the location of your stirrup bar to meet your individual alignment. This adjustability further enhances the ease of maintaining balance and being able to deliver aids efficiently and effectively.
- The Adjustable Flexibloc system offers subtle and effective support discreetly below the saddle flaps and luxurious soft cushioning. You can place each Flexibloc optimally to create a groove for your leg.
- The Adjustable Y-Girthing system helps achieve an equal distribution of pressure along the length of the saddle tree for tremendous stability. When adjusted for an individual horse, this girthing system results in an incredible reduction in ‘white noise’ for your horse and accentuates clear communication between you and your horse. A new streamlined adjuster fitting removes any lumps for perfect seamless contact.
- The Bates SynergyPanel is designed to provide the ultimate close contact. Exclusive to Bates Saddles, the low-profile panels sculpt away from your horse’s shoulders and transition contact seamlessly and gradually onto your horse’s body. The effect helps free the shoulders and achieving optimal space around the withers. The connection between you and your horse is accentuated through channeling your legs with seamless contact to let your horse feel your aids clearly. Your horse will instantly respond to the soft cushioning of the CAIR® Cushion System, which lets them extend, lift and round to their fullest potential.

All Bates® saddles feature the finest, hand selected European leather. You can be confident that the leather in a Bates® saddle is the best in the world, and if cared for, will offer many years of riding. Leather is a natural product and its life relies on maintaining a certain level of moisture. By following the steps below your saddle will perform for many years.
Prior to being ridden your new saddle should be liberally dressed with Bates® Leather Balsam. The balsam offers a surface barrier and protects against wear, water and sweat. Allow it to soak overnight for maximum absorption and protective sealing.
Regular cleaning of the saddle with glycerine saddle soap and a damp cloth or sponge will remove dirt, which can scratch the surface. Follow the cleaning with an application of Bates Leather Balsam or Bates Leather Cream to all areas of the saddle that are not suede. Apply a heavier application to high wear areas.
Keeping your Bates® saddle clean will help it achieve the traditional, rich patina of aged, worked leather and your saddle will bring you excellent years of service.

If something doesn’t fit you or your horse, return your original purchase within 30 days, and we’ll make it right with a refund, exchange, or replacement.
For manufacturer's defects, we'll extend the manufacturer's warranty to a maximum of 24 months, regardless of their individual policies. Manufacturer warranties longer than 24 months will be honored and supported by us as well up to the length of those warranties.
Exceptions: Safety items such as helmets and protective vests may only be returned within 30 days, with their original tags intact. Saddles and riding boots may be returned within 90 days, but are subject to a prorated refund based on usage. Used saddles may be returned for 30 days only. For everyone’s protection, treats and vet meds which have been opened are not returnable, and returned blankets must be clean and free of debris. Underwear is not returnable or exchangeable.
Special Conditions
To protect all customers and ensure that every return or exchange is handled fairly, we may require a receipt or decline a return in these situations:
- Item was not purchased directly from Dover Saddlery. (It was purchased at a used tack sale or from a retailer or online seller other than Dover Saddlery.)
- Item is missing a label or has been defaced.
- No receipt and no valid identification in our stores.
- Item is wet, dirty, or contaminated, or until it has been cleaned. (For health and safety reasons, we cannot accept returns on used, defective, or poorly fitting blankets if they are UNWASHED.)
- Item has been lost, stolen, damaged, or misused.
- On rare occasions, based on the nature of prior transactions.
- Supplements have been opened or used.
- Multiple returns of the same item.
- Personalized items may not be returned unless defective.
