The Waldhausen Vienna rein is a sliding type of side rein used during ground training that allows the horse to experience more freedom of movement. The Vienna reins slip through the bit rings and, for a higher frame, both ends can be attached at various heights on the surcingle. A method commonly used to promote a longer, lower frame is to attach the reins to the surcingle's belly band, run them up between the horse's front legs, through the bit rings and then to the surcingle, as pictured. The sliding feature enables the horse to adjust the position of his head and neck, while the downward action encourages the horse to release, stretch and round through the back. Used properly, the Vienna reins can help encourage the proper development of the top line and promote a classically correct working frame. One size. Imported.
