This Herm Sprenger® Nathe Full Cheek Gag Bit features a 20 mm flexible mullen mouth made of hypoallergenic thermoplastic over a steel core. High-quality stainless steel cheeks have 50 mm center rings. Bit guards are included to protect the corners of the horse’s mouth.
The design of this bit impacts the mouth, poll and corners of the mouth. The fixed cheeks apply direct pressure on the tongue and lower jaw bones. These fixed cheeks also provide lateral contact, which is useful with horses that tend to fall out during turns. The gag effect increases pressure on the corners of the mouth. For use with one or two reins, this bit is commonly suitable for technically demanding courses, especially for horses that pull or lean on the bit, and is best used in the sensitive rider’s hand.
