Myler® Stainless Steel 5" HBT Shank, MB 01 Comfort Snaffle with Narrow Barrel, Level 1. A Western bit offering mild leverage; well suited to trail riding.

The MB 01 is the Myler alternative to the traditional single-jointed mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits. The MB 01 rotates onto the tongue to apply concentrated tongue pressure at the center barrel, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional single-jointed mouthpiece. However, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and allows for each side of the bit to be used independently. The sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.

Key features:

  • Independent Side Movement™.
  • Sweet iron mouthpiece.
  • Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars.
  • Copper inlay.

Notes:

  • The mouthpiece is similar to the MB 02 but the center barrel of the MB 01 is narrower, which concentrates pressure on the center of the tongue more than the MB 02.
  • For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04.

The 5" HBT shank is stainless steel and slightly curved back, with a flat-top purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment. The HBT shank has the patented Independent Swivel Cheek, where the purchase, mouthpiece and shank all move independently of each other. The purchase is slightly angled away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. It has an indirect (curb) rein action designed to be used with a curb strap which attaches to the purchase. The HBT shank uses the combination of the fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and poll.

Action: Indirect.
