Susan G. Komen®, the world’s leading breast cancer organization, is pleased to announce it will welcome horseback riders to the 14th Annual Ride for the Cure on Oct. 9, 2023 at Green Mountain Horse Association (GMHA) in South Woodstock, VT. Registered horseback riders taking part in the event at GMHA will have the opportunity to enjoy a scenic, pleasure trail ride (between 5–9 miles). Riders can also participate in the event by choosing to “Ride Where You Are” and will have the opportunity to choose their own ride mileage.
We thank all our registered riders for raising funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement while celebrating breast cancer survivorship and honoring those who have lost their battle with the disease. The 2023 Ride for the Cure event will honor the life and legacy of its founder, Lois Steele Whidden, who died of breast cancer in April. This year’s event is made possible by Ride sponsor, Dover Saddlery.
“Dover Saddlery is pleased to help support Ride for the Cure and the mission of Susan G. Komen,” said Dana Springfield, President, Dover Saddlery. “This cause resonates with many of us in equestrian sports, and we’re committed to sharing this event with our customers to gain support and spread education about breast cancer.”
Funds raised from the Ride for the Cure will support patients through Komen’s Patient Care Center and advance cutting-edge research as well. Anyone impacted by breast cancer and needing support can call 1- 877-GO-KOMEN and speak to a trained professional who can offer emotional support and patient navigation services. Additionally, qualifying individuals can receive financial assistance or vouchers for free screening and diagnostic imaging. Together, we are fueling the best science, boldest community and biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer.
