Jumping saddles, also commonly called close contact saddles, are designed for stadium jumping and hunt seat equitation. Jumping saddles feature forward flaps, with varying degrees of rotation among saddle models, to ease a rider’s leg position in the shorter stirrup length required for the jumping position. Padded knee rolls are common in saddles intended for show jumping and can make maintaining the two-point or half-seat position more comfortable. Small blocks on some models further help support the rider’s leg. Seats on jumping saddles are relatively flat when compared to a dressage or all-purpose saddle, and both the pommel and cantle are low so as not to hinder the jumping position. Dover Saddlery specializes in tack for the hunter/jumper rider, and our collection of jumping saddles includes leather and synthetic styles to suit all budgets and all rider preferences.
