I'm surprised at the negative reviews and wonder if users bought the correct blanket being reviewed here? I have a WeatherBeeta Orican Original Turnout (1200 denier, ripstop, lite, no polyfill) which I purchased for $99 new. I did a lot of online research before investing in a turnout sheet and I'm very pleased with this model. Although it is just a sheet not a blanket, at 1200 denier it is thick canvas and feels very heavy and indestructible. It seems to keep my horse warm at 20-30F at night. My horse destroys things and so far he has rolled in it and mashed it about, but it has held up. There are no plastic clasps on mine - all buckles are sturdy metal and the straps are thick nylon. There is an acrylic "shearling" collar for the withers, which is nice, and provided that you measured your horse properly, the fit is excellent. The blanket secures properly without being too tight with 2 straps which you can cross below the belly and 2 leg straps. There are 2 chest straps and a velcro tab too. I found that if

I have both the light sheet and medium turnout and find them both to be durable despite mischievous pasture mates. I highly recommend the Orican freestyle for fit, appearance, and structure.

Bought 3 of the Orican Turnout Blankets-great 1200 denier lasted 5 winters & are absolutely useless now. The seam across the top center- wither to tail-came apart during rolling, exposing & losing all insulation. Whole side layer hanging to ground- now on both sides with rips. Not fixable. Inferior since being made in China.
How to Measure Your Horse and Fit your BlanketThe fit of your blanket is extremely important to the comfort of your horse. Improperly fitting blankets can cause rubbing and slippage. To find blanket size, measure distance from center of the chest, across the point of the shoulder, and to the center of the tail. Many blankets are sized in two or three inch increments, so choose the closest size available.

Care of Your BlanketBlankets should be cleaned annually. First, remove excess dirt with a brush or hose, then wash by hand or on a delicate cool water cycle. Use very mild soap. Allow to drip dry. Do not put blankets in the dryer as this will damage the waterproof coating and void any warranties.
