How to Measure Your Horse and Fit your Blanket

The fit of your blanket is extremely important to the comfort of your horse. Improperly fitting blankets can cause rubbing and slippage. To find blanket size, measure distance from center of the chest, across the point of the shoulder, and to the center of the tail. Many blankets are sized in two or three inch increments, so choose the closest size available.

Care of Your Blanket

Blankets should be cleaned annually. First, remove excess dirt with a brush or hose, then wash by hand or on a delicate cool water cycle. Use very mild soap. Allow to drip dry. Do not put blankets in the dryer as this will damage the waterproof coating and void any warranties.

My 17h TB has been known to tear a blanket up in under 30 mins! So, when I bought him this one I had to keep an eye on him for sure! However, this one fits him really well and he actually likes it! He's normally like Pigpen when you turn him out, comes in just covered in mud but ever since I put his new red & black blanket on he actually seems to make an effort to keep it clean! Which is what makes me think he likes this blanket. He's a gray so it looks really flashy on him and he has to keep up appearances for the ladies as well!

I put the blanket on at 10pm one night and by 6am the next morning my TB had ripped the front buckles completely off (and the blanket was twisted around his hind legs). It was very dangerous as you can imagine. No signs he had rolled. I will admit he does play rough but I expected it to last more then one night. I wouldn’t recommend especially for this price point. There are much better brands out there.

Really like this light weight blanket! Just right for my old, full hair coat horse when temps get around freezing and kept my clipped fat Irish pony happy in the low 30's! My guys are not hard on blankets so held up fine last year! Light to handle.
