These chaps are great if you ride many times a week. My only complaint is that if you wear spurs when you ride, the bottom snap makes it almost imposable to put spurs on. This is very inconvenient and I would NOT recommend these chaps if you wear spurs!! I have had these for 4 months and the leather has held up wonderfully!

Does not compare with the old model. I wore these about 15 times, then the snap tore through the leather, leaving a big hole (impossible to repair). My old pair are still functional after 18 months - new ones were more expensive ($139) and feel cheap and are ill-fitting. The new style is very short (even though I bought a Small Tall), does not elongate the leg, hitting several inches below the knee, and not contoured well at the knee, as it gapes out at the back. So disappointing!

I wore these once for 2 hours in 100 degree weather and the leather strip on the inside basically came unglued. They are comfortable, but the leather doesn't have the feel of the higher quality variety. The fit was weird for me too - a great fit in the calf but baggy at the knee and in the ankle. Thankfully, Dover is so good about returns as they went back right away! Trying the Dover brand half chap...we'll see!
For proper fit, Dover recommends that you take the time to determine your measurements before you order. Have another person measure your leg for the most accuracy. Half chaps should fit similarly to tall boots and should also come up into the back of your knee at first. When fitted properly, they will be difficult to zip at first, should be uncomfortably tight around the top, and will drop comfortably around your leg as they break in.
When referring to half chap sizing charts, it is important to keep in mind that all half chaps are measured at the widest part of the calf, but each brand measures height differently.
