They are very light weight, waterproof, breathable and long enuf to sort of wrap part way under the tummy. And the 'European fit' keeps the withers from being rubbed. But my number one favorite thing is the snap buckles in the front. When your hands are freezing and the horse wants to eat, not stand forever while you're fitting trying to thread straps thru buckles in the dark, that snap is worth it's weight in gold. It was 12° here last night. All my horses were warm and protected from the wind. Also this blanket seems to hold up great. I've been using one of them for going on 3 winters now.
