so all this time i thought i was the only one who thought the pony blanket was made for a short backed horse.. apprently not! i had 2 of the turnout sheets.. both we called a dress for my 66" pony and a 60" pony... both met untimely demises. the one pony was tied up in the paddock with the sheet ripped to shreds.. it was so bad that she couldnt move and stood quietly while i had to use a knife to cut what was left of the sheet off of her.. im lucky she didnt break a leg! her small foal was none too please that he was unable to eat for im sure the hours the sheet was twisted around her hind end.. never again would i buy a riders turnout in pony size!! (note: i do have a heavy turnout riders blanket size 60"-62" very happy with that, at least 8 years of use! they got that desgin right at least)

I completely agree with the other reviewer. I ordered the identical 60" size to the one that customer did to fit my Caspian and the chest buckles went to her knees. What a mess!! Bought it on clearance last summer, so now I'm stuck with trying to figure out how to shorten the sides to make it usable. Definitely not "pony or small horse proportions."

I ordered this sheet in 60" and sure enough it measured 60" shoulder to hip but it was horse sized in breadth and depth- it hung past my pony's knees and hocks and the neck opening was so large it dropped over the points of his shoulders- essentially hobbling him. Not a true pony blanket, just a horse sheet (badly) cut down to size.

How to Measure Your Horse and Fit your Blanket

The fit of your blanket is extremely important to the comfort of your horse. Improperly fitting blankets can cause rubbing and slippage. To find blanket size, measure distance from center of the chest, across the point of the shoulder, and to the center of the tail. Many blankets are sized in two or three inch increments, so choose the closest size available.

Care of Your Blanket

Blankets should be cleaned annually. First, remove excess dirt with a brush or hose, then wash by hand or on a delicate cool water cycle. Use very mild soap. Allow to drip dry. Do not put blankets in the dryer as this will damage the waterproof coating and void any warranties.
