Best Blanket!

The 1st winter we were "up north" from Florida my gelding got the worst shoulder rubs from his blanket. I tried everything. Then I saw this HUG blanket and am in love with it. So much that I also own 2 HUG turnout sheets. He can go through the whole winter without any sores or rubs. I would highly recommend.

The Best Blanket on the Market

I have a draft cross gelding who's shoulders are usually rubbed raw by every blanket he wears. I have used every shoulder guard on the market and they don't completely stop the rubbing on this horse. The HUG blankets are the only blankets that don't rub him. I am transitioning him to all HUG sheets/blankets. You can get higher denier HUGs from the manufacturer directly. Dover simply uses the patent for the closure system. I have a 600 denier sheet and its held up okay. I think these blankets run a little small (compared to Weatherbeeta and Rambo) so I had to order a size larger than normal. I agree with another reviewer that Dover should consider more options such as higher Denier, and mid weight liners w/ HUG closure. I put up with the low denier of Dover's HUGs because of the excellent return policy and customer service.

I love this blanket i still have one of the originals from when they first came out and it's still in pretty good shape. they only thing i can think of that would make this blanket the best on the market would be more options. ie...WAY higher denier!! they rip way too easy..1200 or higher, belly bands and just for preference ...more colors!

How to Measure Your Horse and Fit your Blanket

The fit of your blanket is extremely important to the comfort of your horse. Improperly fitting blankets can cause rubbing and slippage. To find blanket size, measure distance from center of the chest, across the point of the shoulder, and to the center of the tail. Many blankets are sized in two or three inch increments, so choose the closest size available.

Care of Your Blanket

Blankets should be cleaned annually. First, remove excess dirt with a brush or hose, then wash by hand or on a delicate cool water cycle. Use very mild soap. Allow to drip dry. Do not put blankets in the dryer as this will damage the waterproof coating and void any warranties.
