I bought this blanket 2 years ago for my 18h, VERY wide Friesian gelding. No rubbing on his chest, withers, or shoulders. Until recently, all my horses were outside all the time. This blanket has managed to keep my horse warm and dry thru driving rain, sleet, and (even in south GA!), snow. This blanket has survived my horse's rather rambunctious play, and has NO snags. Another feature I LOVE it that it is very easy to clean. The lining isn't fleece, so nothing adheres to it, and it easily sponges off. I am about to purchase second blanket for my elderly TB gelding.

My Thoroughbred will never wear anything else! This is the ONLY turnout which allows free movement of the front legs and shoulders, with minimal drag over the withers. As an Equine Body Worker, I've seen the downsides to heavy, binding blankets--the horse's neck and shoulder muscles suffer greatly. The Hug blanket minimizes stress to the topline muscles--and makes my horse more comfortable and happy!

How to Measure Your Horse and Fit your Blanket

The fit of your blanket is extremely important to the comfort of your horse. Improperly fitting blankets can cause rubbing and slippage. To find blanket size, measure distance from center of the chest, across the point of the shoulder, and to the center of the tail. Many blankets are sized in two or three inch increments, so choose the closest size available.

Care of Your Blanket

Blankets should be cleaned annually. First, remove excess dirt with a brush or hose, then wash by hand or on a delicate cool water cycle. Use very mild soap. Allow to drip dry. Do not put blankets in the dryer as this will damage the waterproof coating and void any warranties.
