This is a heavy weight cavesson, not light weight like the description says. This is what I was looking for; the weight of the leather helps keep it from shifting around. The leather is nice quality. There is a lot of padding around the noseband, but I think if it's oiled and used regularly it will work out just fine. It does run fairly big, I wish there was a cob size available for my peanut-head TB.

The actual product does not resemble the photograph in the catalog (or any other longe caveson I've seen). The 'padding' on both caveson and jaw band is an over an inch thick bridge carved from very dense (difficult to compress) foam (covered by leather). Looks more architectural than something I would want to put on my horse's face. I'm not even sure that the caveson would fit my horse let alone stay oriented without having to crank it down so tightly that it compressed his nasal passages. Had the photograph shown this design I would not have ordered it. On the plus side the leather quality and hardware appear to be very decent for something toward the lower end of the leather longe caveson price range. Am returning. Very disappointed.
