Ariat® Maestro Pro Dress Boot™
Ultimate performance dressage boot. Premium French calf uppers are specially molded for a more customized fit. Fully leather lined and with back stiffener and reinforced outer leg for a sturdy, elegant look. Softer inside leg allows for a closer feel. Shaft has a slight forward angle to accommodate the riding leg position. Stretch leather gusset at top of inside calf provides superior fit. Long-wearing Duratread™ outsole is self cleaning and offers good traction. Full-length, heavy-duty, premium brass zipper. Traditional square toe with high Spanish-cut topline. Black. Ladies' sizes 5 1/2-10, 11.
For proper fit, Dover recommends that you take the time to determine your measurements before you order. Have another person measure your leg for the most accuracy. Properly fitted tall boots will, at first, be uncomfortably tight around the top of the boot and should come up into the back of your knee. They should be difficult to pull on and off or zip up. As they break in, they will drop comfortably around your leg.

When referring to tall boot sizing charts, it is important to keep in mind that all tall boots are measured at the widest part of the calf, but each brand measures height differently.

How to Measure for Tall Boots:

1. Wear the clothing (breeches, tights, socks, etc.) you are most likley to wear with your boots.
2. Sit in a straight chair with feet flat on the floor and knees at a 90 degree angle.
3. Measure calf around the widest part, and measure height from the floor to back of the knee.
4. Add 1 1/2" - 2" to measured height to allow for drop as your boots break in.

For individual size charts and meaurements, please refer to the "Size Guide" link that appears on the product page.

This is a lovely boot. My one disappointment, however, is the fit. They run abour a half-size large. Typically, I wear a size 9 shoe. In this boot, I should have ordered an 8.5. I also think that they run a bit wide in the foot bed. In addition, the leather -- though beautiful -- is quite stiff. Also a consideration is the fact that there is no spur rest. A beautiful boot to be sure, but I will be replacing them with something else in the near future.

I have both the Ariat Maestro zip dress bootsd & Hunter zip dress boots (both are 7.5B Med-full (MF). These are the differences in fit for my body type: A)The Hunter zip dress boots has a more comfortable footbed than the Maestro. The Spanish top line is not as high as Maestro and the diameter on the top edge of this boot is cut about 1/2"wider than the Maestro. Unless you have a thick upper calf & full knees, you will probably have to have a cobbler bring in the excess otherwise you can fit more than 3 fingers while wearing it. The outside Spanish top line silhouette will stick outwards...making you look bow-legged. The outer leather is real nice and the inerior lining is a camel colored kit-glove leather with what appears to be a protective finish on it. My cobbler said it was well made for the money. B)The Maestro has a taller Spanish cut top line with a narrower diameter top edge to fit nicely just below the knees. Since it has a square toe shape, the footbed feels a 1/2 size larger. I had to insert the thicker Ariat XR Cobalt footbeds from the paddock boot line (#4-561) so I would not be sliding inside the bootws while walking. The Maestro is slightly heavier in overall weight and the quality of leather is really, really nice, including the untreated, natural colored inside leather lining. There is no spur support in the back. In conclusion: The Hunter dress zip is more comfortable for me to walk around in & ride after I had the top diameter of the boots made smaller. You will get more for your money if comfort while walking/riding is important with the Hunter Zip. If you want a more graceful looking pair of boots to show in and prefer the added toe space than the Maestro is for you!
