How to Measure Your Horse and Fit your BlanketThe fit of your blanket is extremely important to the comfort of your horse. Improperly fitting blankets can cause rubbing and slippage. To find blanket size, measure distance from center of the chest, across the point of the shoulder, and to the center of the tail. Many blankets are sized in two or three inch increments, so choose the closest size available.

Care of Your BlanketBlankets should be cleaned annually. First, remove excess dirt with a brush or hose, then wash by hand or on a delicate cool water cycle. Use very mild soap. Allow to drip dry. Do not put blankets in the dryer as this will damage the waterproof coating and void any warranties.

This is a nice but not well made blanket. The material is not the same as the material used in the Riders International Supreme blankets and the stitching is not tight. The Riders Full Fit, the Riders International Supreme WB Cut and the Pessoa Tundra will all fit a broad shouldered, rounder bodied, high necked WB or draft type horse. But this blanket does not hold up well and I had to return it. The front surcingle closures started to fray almost immediately. The stitching on the darts that create the contour over the rump came undone the first week. And lastly the front surcingle closure mechanism completely came off the blanket and my horse was found walking around his paddock with the front of the blanket at his knees. Could be dangerous if your horse is a bit of a hot-head but luckily my guy kept his cool and walked to the front gate and waited for someone to rescue him! I believe the stitching is the real problem with this blanket. The stitching began to unravel from the day I received it and a few weeks later the blanket was unusable. And Dovers was great, they took it back & replaced it with a different brand and I was very happy with their service. My horse is in tough field and his blankets take a beating but this is the only blanket I have had to return & refused a replacement. It will not stand up. It is not made as well as the more expensive name brand blankets and it is not made as well as the Riders International Supreme series, which again will fit a broad horse in the WB cut. And that is a real shame because this year Riders has reduced its selection in the WB cut and is offering more selection in the 'Full Fit' and the Full Fit is not a good bet at any price.

Finally - something that FITS my horse! He is a 17.2 1600lb Oldenburg, and I have been through 40 sheets and blankets over the 7 years I've had him. I truly wish I were kidding, but I'm not. Those numbers include blankets, sheets, and flysheets that I either bought and he wore for a while, or were tried on him and returned. Many of the popular brands (Weatherbeeta Freestyle, Schneiders, most of the Rambos, etc) do not fit his shoulders at all. He cannot wear HUGs due to his tall withers. The Dover Warmblood line with shoulder gussets also does not work for him. Only the Rambo XL and this model have been able to accommodate his shoulders *and* withers. He is very comfortable in this blanket with no rubs at all, and I would highly recommend it for other "hard to fit" horses. However, the addition of a rainsheet and a flysheet would make this line truly perfect. :-)

Very nice blanket. The only thing I dislike is that the trim around the neck is a tight fit for my draft cross. I have to alternate this blanket with other blankets. I worry that the trim will cut into his neck if he were to wear this blanket all the time.
