Reviewed By: Becky (VA) I had an opportunity to try out the Carousel brand padded riding under "shorts" this past weekend. I don't know how I lived without them for this long! I could still feel the horse, but I had much more cushion than I had been used to.
I do feel these are a tad overpriced for what they are - a cotton blend short with a fleece-like padding sewn into the seat.
The rise is rather high (sits at or near natural waist), and thus the garment showed above the waist band of my jeans. The leg length is ideal, falling just above the knee (I'm 5'4").
My only other complaint is that the padding is a non-natural fleece-like fiber. I would prefer something more along the lines of a cotton blend simply because the nylon could potentially burn against skin not covered/protected by underwear, especially when sweating.
They were warm (which was good because it was chilly last Saturday) but not hot. The material breathed well. I did not feel constricted or like my movements were restricted. Nor did I feel like it was obvious that I was wearing padding. The shorts did not bunch or ride up, both of which I was concerned about when purchasing.
Hopefully, they will maintain through washing and drying. It will also be interesting how they do once the temperatures rise and they have to deal with sweat. Overall, I was very pleased with the product.
