This Level 1 loose ring bit is for horses beginning training. The free-rotating barrel utilizes mostly tongue pressure and collapse onto the bars. The curved mouthpiece permits the horse to swallow more freely and distributes pressure evenly. Independent side movement allows the rider to isolate one side of the bit for bending, balancing or lifting a shoulder. It is now legal in dressage. Available in sizes: 4 3/4", 5", 5 1/4", 5 1/2", 6".

I recommend this bit 100% It is legal and a great way to get a horse to except the bit. My QH has a sensitive mouth and the french link was still bothering him so I got this bit and it was an instant improvement!

As with any bit, it's only as effective as the hands using it. That said, this bit does what it says it will, being very effective in achieving lateral movement. It moves easily to isolate either side for lifting and seems to be very comfortable for the horse. I use it for trail riding, while using the same bit but without the barrel for training. I do feel a difference.

I wouldn't not recommned this bit, it was vey harsh, this bit made my horse worse! A good way to test is but the bit over your arm and have someone slide it back and forth..not fun.
