It's very hard to get a men's riding boot that fits, and this is the only one that does on me. They look great from a distance, but up close they are clearly Made in China by novice bootmakers. Crooked stitching, loose threads, ridiculous protrusion inside that would wear a hole in my leg if I hadn't cut it off myself. . MUCH narrower calf & foot width, lower foot "volume", as less refined compared to same size Ariat. Also very stiff and will likely need a long break-in period, but that may mean they will last longer. The sole has giant ridges that "lock" your foot into the stirrups at a 60 degree angle (but I prefer 90 degree angle of foot to stirrup so hate this). I may learn to love these boots but for now the jury is out and I only bought them for the fit.

I've had two pairs of these boots and the same thing happened on both of them. After 6 month of riding in the back zippers would suddenly brake. Im very disapointed with these boots and have nothing good to say about them. I tried contacting mountain horse for a refund or a replacment and the have still not replied. Would highly recomend NOT getting these boots, unless you want to pay and outragous amount to get the zippers replaced

I needed a new pair of showing boots and these were probably, quite literally, the only pair in Maryland that would fit me (I am size 12!!!). Very good quality at a reasonable price. Only needs a polish once every month, and holds it well. To clean after riding, wipe off with a slightly damp cloth and dry after about a minute. The laces did snap after about 2 weeks, but easy to fix using a lighter (fray the laces, as they are nylon). They took over a MONTH to break in, though. Be sure to buy way in advance of the show season. Otherwise, a good boot for a good price.
For proper fit, Dover recommends that you take the time to determine your measurements before you order. Have another person measure your leg for the most accuracy. Properly fitted tall boots will, at first, be uncomfortably tight around the top of the boot and should come up into the back of your knee. They should be difficult to pull on and off or zip up. As they break in, they will drop comfortably around your leg.
When referring to tall boot sizing charts, it is important to keep in mind that all tall boots are measured at the widest part of the calf, but each brand measures height differently.
How to Measure for Tall Boots:
1. Wear the clothing (breeches, tights, socks, etc.) you are most likley to wear with your boots.
2. Sit in a straight chair with feet flat on the floor and knees at a 90 degree angle.
3. Measure calf around the widest part, and measure height from the floor to back of the knee.
4. Add 1 1/2" - 2" to measured height to allow for drop as your boots break in.
