For proper fit, Dover recommends that you take the time to determine your measurements before you order. Have another person measure your leg for the most accuracy. Properly fitted tall boots will, at first, be uncomfortably tight around the top of the boot and should come up into the back of your knee. They should be difficult to pull on and off or zip up. As they break in, they will drop comfortably around your leg.
When referring to tall boot sizing charts, it is important to keep in mind that all tall boots are measured at the widest part of the calf, but each brand measures height differently.
How to Measure for Tall Boots:
1. Wear the clothing (breeches, tights, socks, etc.) you are most likley to wear with your boots.
2. Sit in a straight chair with feet flat on the floor and knees at a 90 degree angle.
3. Measure calf around the widest part, and measure height from the floor to back of the knee.
4. Add 1 1/2" - 2" to measured height to allow for drop as your boots break in.

I love these boots. They are attractive enough to show in and durable enough for everyday riding. They are just as nice as my sportive highrider II pair and have been easy to break in. I hope they last as long!

I bought these boots in a panic after realizing the zipper on my customs had broken. For the price of these boots, I am incredibly disappointed. After less than a year of riding in them nearly everyday, the elastic has become stretched and puckered, the leather peeling, and the heel collapsed and folded. There is no spur rest, which allows the spurs to slid down. The fit was fairly decent when I purchased them, but now they have sagged and shrunk, despite careful upkeep (inserts, &c.). There isn't much support to this boots, especially around the ankle/arch of the foot.

Nice boots. The pair I received, one of the zippers wouldn't stay up so I returned them. I do have a pair of the supportive High Rider II boots which I absolutely love and have had the same pair for 3 years! They are too worn now to show in hence my new purchase of the Classic High Rider. I do not find the new ones as comfortable and the ankle area had too much room but will be fine for showing. Overall I feel Mountain Horse makes a quality product.
