This is a really nice bit for a horse who likes stability. I appreciate the D ring, that it comes in 4 3/4", and the soft flexible mouthpiece that is not too thick. My horse goes magnificently in it, taking a light but steady contact. She does not like jointed bits, and hard mullen bits are never the right shape. So, in its performance, it is a success. I am at a loss to understand why this bit is double the price of the loose ring equivalent. The high price is especially daunting because it is very easy to damage with teeth marks. My horse had a good bite in it after the very first ride. However, it does not seem to be a problem for the functionality of the bit, and admittedly my horse is unusually mouthy. She's just going to have to wear it with teeth marks. As a side note, the mold seam on the mouthpiece is visible. It does not seem to bother my horse, but again, at this price, I did not see exceptional workmanship. And for a bit that will not last indefinitely, the price is steep.
