The D's are little too light weight and the leather loops which hold them to the noseband a little too thin/light weight. I'd prefer that the leather and hardware for the Ds (which attach to the headstall) be at least as durable as the ends of the bridles to which it attaches.
Note that the effect of this noseband is similar to a side pull, and in effect, is little different than riding in a halter. This is very different than a shanked hackamore which exerts much greater effect.
I tried it on my stallion who has an exquisitely sensitive mouth and tends to be behind the bit even with the mildest snaffle and a big loop in the reins. With this nose piece, he actually took contact with the reins and poked his nose out in front of the vertical, a good thing, but I had nearly no control. Thank goodness I was able to verbally scold him until he halted, as the reins were meaningless and he seemed to actually enjoy pulling against them... which made me nervous considering the lightweight hardward and leather loops.
If you try it, perhaps it would better to try it out in a small confined arena until you know whether your horse will pay attention or not (glad that I did). Or, try it in conjunction with a bitted bridle and another set of reins for the first few rides, so that if your horse turns into a "no breaks death machine" you have a back up plan other than prayer and verbal scolding.

This noseband is a great alternative to a bit! It can be added to nearly any bridle easily.
The leather is of nice quality and soft. However, the stitching is a little less than sturdy. My horse pulled on the longe line and broke the stitching on the loop that attaches to the cheek piece. Luckily it was an easy fix for our local cobbler, but the side he fixed is much stronger than the other one now. I should have asked him to reinforce the other.
