Just thought I'd point out that the label directions say to "apply at a 1 to 7 dilution". This means to combine 1 part Repel-Xp with 7 parts water for a total of 8 parts, and is why 1 pint of concentrate makes 1 gallon of solution (1 pint of concentrate 7 pints of water = 8 pints final volume = 1 gallon). Dover's web page says to "[Dilute] 1:7 with water". In formal terms, the x:n dilution nomenclature means to arrive at a solution comprising x parts of concentrate in n parts of final solution, thus "1:7" in this case means "1 part of Repel-Xp in a total volume of 7 parts". Preparing the solution this way results in a solution about 14% more concentrated than the label specifies. The other usuable dilution specified on the label is to "apply a 1 to 4 dilution" (one part plus four parts for a total final volume of five parts). Dover's web page changes this to 1:4 (one part in a total of 4 parts), which results in a solution 25% more concentrated than the label specifies...

the concentrate is the best as I can change the strength as the bugs get worse through the summer.. repelx is the only product that lasts a few days and for trail riding it is the best!! thank you

it has an awkward dilution ratio so it's hard to figure out exactly how much to pour out to mix the solution. but buying it in concentrate is a great value, just wish they had a more simple dilution ratio. it works well, but does not repel ALL the flies as one horse at the barn who is very sensitive to flies lets me know!

Directions for Use

FOR USE ON HORSES AND PONIES ONLY-SHAKE WELL BEFORE USING

Mix REPEL-Xp Emulsifiable Fly Spray with water at proper dilution. First put the required amount into sprayer or mixing container. Then add water according to directions and mix thoroughly before using.

IMPORTANT:
Mix fresh solution before each use. Apply with pressure sprayer or you can sponge it on horses. Make sure animal's coat is thoroughly wet. Use approximately 8 oz. for each animal depending on size of horse or pony. Avoid getting solution into the animal's eyes.

HORSES: To protect horses from horn flies, house flies, gnats and mosquitoes apply at a 1 to 7 dilution. Each pint of concentrate makes a gallon of finished spray. Repeat application every 3 to 4 days, or as often as needed.

Where horse flies, deer flies (tabanids), stable flies, ticks, or Deer Ticks, that may transmit Lyme Disease, are a problem, apply a 1 to 4 dilution and repeat as often as needed.
