Dover Saddlery is looking for a full-time Merchandising Analyst to provide analytical support to our Purchasing Department. This position will update, create, maintain, improve and potentially automate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as well as import freight and duty tracking. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a willingness to understand the “how & why” data is being collected and is able to interpret the results in a simplified manner. The Merchandising Analyst will also fulfill requests for data pulls and custom reports and will potentially develop tools that are easy to use. The ideal candidate should also have a solid understanding of merchandising math and terminology (ie Sales, Cogs, Margin $, GP%, Inventory Turn, Back order rate, MFC, Lead time, Forecasting, Freight and Duty Factor, DIM, cubic meters, etc). The qualified candidate will have regular interaction with the Purchasing Department and be a resource for data requests.
To qualify for this position, 3-5 years’ experience in analyzing data required. A College degree is preferred. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with excellent organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills. Position requires some data entry. A working knowledge of Office applications, including Outlook and Word are required and strong analytical skills and exceptional EXCEL skills are essential. A background in Retail/Catalog merchandising terminology, Access Database knowledge, and VBA and SQL coding language experience a plus. Familiarity with Pick operating system a huge plus but is not required. Horse knowledge is a plus.
