I got this for my TB mare as a last resort - supplements, sprays, and diet changes didn't work, so I decided to try a muzzle. What I like about this is that the horse can eat with it on. It will get pretty dirty, but you can clean it. However, the first time I turned out my horse with this (attached to a breakaway halter, of course), 3 of the straps completely ripped off. If your horse is in a stall most of the time this probably wouldn't be a problem, but this isn't a great muzzle for turnout.

I bought this muzzle about a year ago. It has worked very well for my mare who would eat the stall walls without it. Every other muzzle I tried failed to stop her chewing. Some were so heavy that they left sores behind her ears. This muzzle is light weight and it works! The only big draw back is that it has to be cleaned thoroughly, which is time consuming. I bought another so that I can keep a clean one on her when she is in her stall.

I agree with Katie. A dedicated cribber will figure out a way to crib anyway but this does make it so they can't get a good grip and suck as much air. A good thing as my filly tends to get gas colic otherwise. My biggest complaint is that after a day or two the muzzle is absolutely rank. Makes it unpleasant for her when I put it on and gives her "bad breath".
