After my black horse was turned out 24/7 all summer, his coat had turned burnt orange and the hairs looked as though they had literally been burned. I have tried other products, such as parika and Blackenall in the past, with no results, so I was skeptical of Black-As-Knight. After a month (August!) on Black-As-Knight all the burnt hairs started falling out and were replaced by true black hair. My horse is now a rich black, with blue-like dapples. The key is to make sure enough of the product is fed. I will feed at least 4 oz. daily in the heat of summer, but less in the winter when he is inside more and the sun is out less.

I have a black gelding who is turned out 24 hours a day. During the summer his coat is glossy and black, but in the winter it gets burnt orange. I decided to try black as knight, i used it for 3 months and noticed no differnece is shine or color. Though, his coat didnt get any lighter from the time i started using it till i stopped. Maybe thats all i can hope for. I am going to try just adding paprika instead.

Detractors will say it's the paprika. However, I bought bulk paprika and did not have the excellent results I've seen with this product. It's the combination of oils that helps. I've seen dramatic results--it's too bad this product has such cheesy before and after photos, I have great ones. Note: horses with black skin suffer from mineral deficiencies, so products from Glanzen such as Blackenall with chelated minerals make even more of a difference.
