For proper fit, Dover recommends that you take the time to determine your measurements before you order. Have another person measure your leg for the most accuracy. Half chaps should fit similarly to tall boots and should also come up into the back of your knee at first. When fitted properly, they will be difficult to zip at first, should be uncomfortably tight around the top, and will drop comfortably around your leg as they break in.
When referring to half chap sizing charts, it is important to keep in mind that all half chaps are measured at the widest part of the calf, but each brand measures height differently.

Reviewed By: Amanda (MN) The half chaps are very nice and come in great packaging to help you keep them in shape. They are a good length and have a very high outside cut. The only drawback would be for picky people who have small calves. I wore the XS size in all Ariat half chaps, but I found that the Monaco half chaps are cut in a way that they bulge out a little bit behind the upper calf muscle. My trainer didn't even notice it, but I noticed it the first few times I wore them. The small bulge was diminished when I wore tall, thick socks. Also, my leg is a bit short for the XS size, so that may be making them bulge a bit. But they are overall very good quality and look very nice on!
