I bought these tall boots for showing. I love them! It took me 3 rides to break them in with some leather softener. Such a great purchase.

Ive tried a few brands of boots, and these have not held up like $400 boots should. The black leather on the inside of the boot where my calves rub against the saddle is wearing off and I have only had these boots about a year and a half. I do ride 5-6 times a week, so they do get used often though. They have never softened like Mountain Horse boots do 2 weeks out of the box. They stand up straight when I take them off and have never really felt broken in. Also, the leather is cracking around the bend in the toe area. Now they are nice boots, and fit my leg and ankle very well, but for the price and quality I expect from Ariat they are not holding up like they should at all. I'll buy Ariat anything, but I won't buy Ariat boots again. If you really, really take care of these boots they could last you a long time, but you will never get the feeling of truly broken in boots.

For proper fit, Dover recommends that you take the time to determine your measurements before you order. Have another person measure your leg for the most accuracy. Properly fitted tall boots will, at first, be uncomfortably tight around the top of the boot and should come up into the back of your knee. They should be difficult to pull on and off or zip up. As they break in, they will drop comfortably around your leg.
When referring to tall boot sizing charts, it is important to keep in mind that all tall boots are measured at the widest part of the calf, but each brand measures height differently.
How to Measure for Tall Boots:
1. Wear the clothing (breeches, tights, socks, etc.) you are most likley to wear with your boots.
2. Sit in a straight chair with feet flat on the floor and knees at a 90 degree angle.
3. Measure calf around the widest part, and measure height from the floor to back of the knee.
4. Add 1 1/2" - 2" to measured height to allow for drop as your boots break in.
