How to Measure Your Horse and Fit your Blanket

The fit of your blanket is extremely important to the comfort of your horse. Improperly fitting blankets can cause rubbing and slippage. To find blanket size, measure distance from center of the chest, across the point of the shoulder, and to the center of the tail. Many blankets are sized in two or three inch increments, so choose the closest size available.

Care of Your Blanket

Blankets should be cleaned annually. First, remove excess dirt with a brush or hose, then wash by hand or on a delicate cool water cycle. Use very mild soap. Allow to drip dry. Do not put blankets in the dryer as this will damage the waterproof coating and void any warranties.

Bought 2 of these. One for each of my warmbloods, 78 and 84 . They fit their broad chests nicely and stay in place really well. The fabric seems to repel dirt and stains and has the look of good quality. Even though there's no leg gusset, they're able to run and play without restriction. I'm not wild about the string going under the tail. It gets dirty and you have to touch it. The blanket is so nice and beautiful though, that I'm willing to put up with the one drawback.

This line of blanket was recommended by a friend and I really like the fit and the cut and it runs true to size.Since it fits my horse perfectly I will probably switch to all the products when my older blankets wear out.

This blanket is very durable and the weight is perfect for the mid atlantic climate (keeping in mind that I have TB that gets a coat like a warmblood). My horse is an 81 and I am impressed with the fit. This blanket has lasted better than my rhino rug (fabric rips) and his previous saxon midweight (waterproofness didn't last beyond a year). The pumice color is great to keep away the hunters if your horse is near wooded areas.
