I love this! My Welsh X gelding suffers from diabetes and can't consume more than half the average amount of sugars per day, as it could kill him. I bought this skeptically 6 months ago and am delighted than it still runs strong to this day! There is no need for a breakaway strap; it slides off if the horse fights it.

I've had it on my horse for a couple hours and it works ok. My horse can drink but not eat. He had a fuss when I first put it on but stopped trying to get it off after about 25 minutes. It is holding up nicely and I love the peace of mind that comes with the breakaway feature. I should mention though that mine is the Weaver brand and I got it at Tractor Supply.

I'm buying this muzzle for the third year in a row for my field hunter who has issues with Ph and sugar in the grass from spring through November. He wears it every day and it has literally saved his life from frequent gas colic. I have to buy a new one every season, or sometimes more often, because he enlarges the hole at the bottom and gets too much grass. Otherwise, it's a snap to use and he doesn't mind it at all. No real need for a breakaway snap. It comes off pretty easily when they rub it on a wash tub.
