Works wonderful for lost shoes, tender feet, stability while trailering, or just for extra protection. I've used them on my horses so many times, for 2 years and they have yet to fall apart or get super dirty. If you go to Cavallo website- you can get them in PINK, and that way you can show your gelding's feminine side. But really, I've never had a problem with these boots. They don't rub the heel bulbs or pasterns. They let water drain out if you ride in creeks, they don't let rocks in, or sand. Big plus for me.

I bought these for my hubby's old TB, who has thin hoof walls, and tender soles. These worked really well for a couple of hour trail ride, and they didn't seme to bother his scar tissue on his bulb at all. He had no problem cantering with these which is what I was most concerned about. Very happy to not be glueing or clamping anything to his hoofs, or not to have to pay for shoes. He seems to really like his new sneakers!

I started using Cavallo boots over two years ago when I decided to have my horse go barefoot. She had thin hoof walls and couldn't keep her shoes on. The Simple boots stayed on through all of our difficult mountain terrain. However, I had first tried the other very popular brand and on the first ride ripped off the gators, next ride broke the front clip, then the cable. AND, this Spring I tried the newest version of the other brand. Ripped the front out twice (they replaced them), ripped the gators off a few times and a few times the back fastening screws. So, now I'm back to the original Cavallo boots. I recommend that you try a size smaller than the chart measurement indicates. I also use a leg protection boot that has a bell boot attached to keep the small rocks on our BLM roads from flipping inside the front Cavallo boots. And, yes, they are easy to put on I've let my friends try them and they all think they're quite easy.
